Handmade carpet with Persian silk thread in Qom
The head of Qom Industrial Towns Company stated that the characteristics of using Iranian silk thread are paying attention to domestic production and reducing the cost price, and said: the ways out of the economic recession are to do the same in the field of carpet production.
Taybi Nejad added: More than 90% of the country’s silk thread is made of Chinese silk thread.
Akhavan, president of the Qom Handmade Carpet Union, also announced the existence of 400 masters and 28,000 weavers with carpet weaving cards in the province and said: Lack of liquidity among masters and customs problems, including the import of raw materials and their tariffs explained.
The head of the Qom Handmade Carpet Designers Association also said at the ceremony: It was decided that on the handmade carpet, with Iranian thread, there would be a symbol of culture, civilization, economy, market and carpet, which Timcheh Qom had as an artistic and registered work.
According to Khoshkftar, better dyeability, texture quality and the ability to compete with foreign silk are the characteristics of Iranian silk yarn.
Qomi artists have woven this carpet in 8 months in 60 by 90 dimensions and with a cost of 5 million Tomans.
