Handmade rugs need innovation in design and layout
The head of the Khorasan Razavi Handmade Rug Exporters’ Union, pointing out that Khorasan Razavi has a great variety in terms of maps, said: To compete in the market, we must innovate based on the originality of the maps and move with the market demand.
Hadi Makhmali added: In the first 4 months of this year, 5,643 kilograms of handmade Rug worth 208,272 dollars, equivalent to 6 billion and 327 million rials, were exported from Khorasan Razavi, which is the amount of exports from the province’s customs.
Makhmali continued: This amount of exports in terms of weight and value has increased by 15 percent compared to the same period last year and has been exported to New Zealand, Uzbekistan, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Canada.
He pointed out: In the field of export of handmade Rug, one type of export is based on the export of Iranian Rug and the other is based on the carpets of the province.
The head of the Khorasan Razavi Handmade Rug Exporters Union said: The reason for this increase in exports is the activity of exporters and the current situation, but we do not consider this increase to be very effective on the market and it is not convincing.
Makhmali added: Export growth can be considered when it affects production and the level of employment in handmade Rug , and this export and exchange rate change will change production in the design and demand of customers.
He continued: We consider exports successful when we say that it has grown, which has a quantitative and qualitative effect on domestic production, but if we want to compare exports with the percentage, in fact, we have only convinced ourselves.
Referring to the existence of old export markets, Makhmali stated: If we want to have export production, we must expand the type of markets and adapt our light products to the market and create new conditions in the Rug produced in the province.
Regarding the domestic market for buying and selling handmade Rug , he added: The domestic market of this product tolerates stagnation based on the conditions of buying and selling activities and existing exchange activities, but if producers can move in relation to the domestic market based on the type of taste and market demand.
