Handwoven carpet Iranian identity card in the world
The head of Isfahan province’s hand-woven carpet department told the media and experts in the field of hand-woven carpets on the occasion of the 22nd hand-woven carpet exhibition: Iranian and the best product in the world.
Lotfollah Hossein Hashemi stated: It is the duty of all Iranians who are active in the carpet industry to do their job well in the fields of advertising, production and export of this product.
He added that handmade carpets are a strategic commodity and a ten-way commodity, and that the commodity has cultural, artistic, economic and political aspects.
Hashemi pointed to the creation of employment in the country’s hand-woven carpet industry and said: “Considering the job creation that this product has in the country, unfortunately, it is the first product that has been included in the list of oppressive sanctions.”
The head of Isfahan’s hand-woven carpet department announced the number of hand-woven carpet weavers in the province as more than 270,000, saying: “These artists are producing hand-woven carpets from the most remote villages to the heart of our cities.”
He pointed to the existence of 8 organizations, trade unions and cooperatives in Isfahan province and said: “These institutions guide the production and sale of goods well.”
Hashemi announced the global registration of three brands of handmade carpets in Isfahan province and added: Isfahan, Kashan and Nain carpets have been registered globally, as well as Joshqan carpet and Yalmeh Aliabad carpet have been nationally registered, and the global registration process of these two brands is underway.
He pointed to the government’s support in 1996 and 1997 and added: “This support has led to the payment of more than 33 billion tomans in facilities to handmade carpet manufacturers.”
The head of Isfahan’s hand-woven carpet department added: “The facility has been in the form of 4% and 3-year repayment.”
He stated that handmade carpets are produced in workshops and under the supervision of master artists: weavers of handmade carpets are constantly being trained and proper quality control has been done in this regard to create a good design and role in the carpet.
Hashemi described India and Pakistan as Iran’s competitors in the field of handmade carpets: The products of these countries do not have the originality, identity and quality of Iranian handmade carpets.
Ali Mir Jamali, director of Isfahan Business Training Center, said: “The exhibition of hand-woven carpets will be held in 138 booths of 4,000 meters and in 4 halls of Sheikh Baha’i, Mirdamad, Naghsh Jahan and half of the world.”
According to him, artistic and beautiful carpets of Isfahan artists will be displayed in 27 booths of Sheikh Baha’i Hall.
Noting that 35% of exhibitors are from outside Isfahan province, he said: “This indicates the share of national participation of exhibitors and carpet activists.”
Mirjamali acknowledged: Khorasan Razavi, Kerman, East Azerbaijan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kurdistan, Fars, Golestan, Qom and Tehran are among the provinces that participate in this exhibition along with Isfahan.
