Handwoven carpet production increased in Ardabil
The owner of Ajdar Hassani, who visited Khalkhal handwoven carpet weaving workshops on Friday, added: “More than 50,000 hand-woven carpet weavers have been identified in this province, of which 33,000 have a certificate of activity in the carpet industry.”
He said that the province’s carpet weavers currently produce 90,000 square meters a year, adding that this year’s goal of the province’s handmade carpet weavers and weavers union is to provide full support to producers in the carpet industry and try to implement work policies. Recently, the production of handmade carpets in the province will increase to 120,000 square meters.
He announced the approval of the Social Security Insurance Law for hand-woven carpet weavers in the Islamic Consultative Assembly last year and said: Was.
Hassani stated: More than 10,000 carpet weavers in different parts of the province have been covered by social security insurance and since 1993, due to the cessation of insurance credits, carpet weavers’ insurance has been stopped.
He pointed to the long history of carpet production in the province and the diversity of producers in rural, nomadic and urban areas, adding that the Union of Carpet Manufacturers and Weavers, along with the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization and support groups, and the use of new support methods to cover weavers’ insurance. Efforts to provide banking facilities, supply raw materials for production, marketing and provide the presence of weavers and producers in international exhibitions.
He mentioned Khalkhal as one of the major hubs for the production of hand-woven carpets, especially exquisite silk carpets and said that more than 2,000 registered weavers work as weavers or work in centralized carpet weaving workshops.
He stated: In the 70’s and 80’s, the number of carpet weavers in this city was more than four thousand, which has decreased to 2,300 people today.
The head of the Union of Manufacturers and Weavers of Handmade Carpets of Ardabil Province also said: Khalkhal handmade silk handmade carpets are different from carpets produced in other regions of Ardabil Province and have a special place in the domestic markets of the country and European countries.
He said: “Carpets woven by Khalkhal carpet weavers are among the best hand-woven carpets produced in the country and the world in terms of quality, color, quality, insertion of numbers and maps used in carpet weaving and are known as an Iranian brand and international identity.” .
He added: “If the carpet industry of Khalkhal craftsmen is provided with the immediate export of carpets, there will be a great change in the economic prosperity of the managers of this industry.”
He pointed to the impact of the corona epidemic on many jobs in the community and the closure of two or more concentrated manufacturing workshops. “Most of the activities of home-made carpet weavers in the province remain strong, and the opportunity to stay home remains at the level of related activities,” he said.
