Harvest of Damask rose in Sistan and Baluchestan
The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Sistan and Baluchestan province said: the use of Damask rose has started from 2 hectares of gardens in the province.
Ardeshir Shahraki added: in order to change the cultivation pattern and due to the high economic value and low water needs of Damask rose and adaptation to the climate of Damask rose orchards development area, it is on the agenda of Jihad Agricultural Organization and has been welcomed by farmers.
He added: Last year, 24 hectares were added to the area under Damask rose cultivation.
The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province predicted: This year, 4 tons of Damask rose will be collected from the orchards of this province and after processing in the region, it will be offered to the market as a rose and dried whole.
Shahraki added: Last year, 5,000 Damask rose seedlings were prepared and provided to farmers free of charge for the development of Damask rose orchards.
It is worth mentioning that Damask rose starts from the third year of its economic flowering.
