Harvest of ruby grapes in northern Sistan and Baluchestan
Harvesting of ruby grapes, the earliest grapes in the country and the most important horticultural crop of Zabol, Zahak and Helmand cities, began.
The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of the province, noting that there are more than one thousand hectares of vineyards in this area,
predicted that ten tons of crops would be harvested from each hectare.
Nikbakht, stating that 14 types of grapes are obtained in this region, said:
In addition to meeting the needs of the region, these grapes have also been sent to the provinces of Kerman, South Khorasan and Fars.
He added: in order to encourage farmers to revive the vineyards,
the celebration of the harvest of ruby grapes will be held on the 5th of Khordad in Zahak city.
It is worth mentioning that due to the drought phenomenon in the last 10 years,
two thousand hectares of vineyards in Sistan and Baluchestan were destroyed,
of which one thousand hectares have been rehabilitated and returned to fruition.
