Harvesting 110,000 grapes from Kurdistan orchards
Pourhabibi said: According to this, the amount of grapes produced this year will increase by five percent compared to last year.
He added: about 50% of the province’s orchards are dedicated to grape cultivation, of which 4,850 hectares of the province’s lands are dedicated to blue grape cultivation and 8,000 hectares to dryland grape cultivation.
The director of horticulture of the Kurdistan Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization said: The cultivars of grapes grown in Kurdistan in irrigated lands are mostly raisins, Askari and Fakhri, and in the rainfed part, most of the black grapes are from Marivan and Khoshnab Baneh.
He added: Most cultivars of blue grapes are produced in Sanandaj, Bijar and Qorveh counties and in Marivan and Baneh Sarvabad counties, grapes are cultivated in the dry season.
Currently, 20,000 grape growers are active in Kurdistan.
