Harvesting 15 tons of black sesame from rainfed lands of Asadabad city
The director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Asadabad city announced the harvest of 25 tons of black sesame in the rainfed lands of this city.
Nasser Fattahi stated: This year, for the first time, 45 hectares of rainfed lands in the city were officially and extensively allocated to the cultivation of black sesame by distributing 5 kilos of seeds among farmers.
He stated that out of this amount, the area under cultivation of black sesame was 25 hectares mixed with chickpeas and 3 hectares in pure form, adding: On average, the yield per hectare of black sesame is 50 kg per hectare.
Fattahi, pointing out that the time from sowing to harvest of sesame is between 2 to 3 days, continued: Gross income per hectare of black sesame is four million tomans, which is almost twice the gross income of wheat cultivation.
He stated that the sesame product is used in line with the food industry, confectionery and oil making, and specified: Currently, the cultivation of black sesame has no guaranteed purchase.
Fattahi reminded: Oil conversion industries are important buyers of this product and the sale of this product will not face any problems for farmers.
He described the cultivation of black sesame as one of the low-water and rain-fed crops and said: Due to the lack of groundwater resources, this crop can be one of the alternative crops for high-water crops and has a high economic efficiency for farmers.
I have to say; Sesame product is one of the most important oilseeds and edible seeds with protein, vitamins F1, E, D, B and lecithin.
