Harvesting 1626 tons of cumin in South Khorasan
The head of the South Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization said: The farmers of South Khorasan harvested 1626 tons of cumin this year.
Hashem Vali Pourmotlagh said: this amount of crop was harvested from 3500 hectares of lands in this province, of which 3419 hectares were irrigated and the rest were rainfed.
He announced the highest area of cumin cultivation in Sarayan city with 1752 hectares.
The head of the South Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization added: In addition to consumption within the province, this product is exported to the provinces of Kerman and Sistan and Baluchestan.
But Pourmotlagh stated: Cumin is harvested in South Khorasan from early April to mid-May.
He specified: Last year, 1594 tons of cumin were harvested from the cultivated lands of this crop in South Khorasan.
The head of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of South Khorasan reminded: Cumin is a medicinal plant with appetizing, digestive and anti-flatulence properties.
