Harvesting 170,000 tons of dates from groves in northern Kerman

The deputy director of crop production improvement of the North Jihad Agriculture Organization of Kerman province announced the harvest of 170,000 tons of dates from the groves in the north of the province this year.

Announcing this news, Mohammad Reza Pourkhatun said: Dates are one of the important products of the tropical regions of the country, which is considered as one of the important and strategic products of the country in terms of food security, employment, income generation and sustainable agricultural development.

Pourkhatoon added: the area under date cultivation in the north of Kerman province was about 30,000 hectares, which is expected to be 170,000 tons of dates from the groves in the north of the province and enter the market this year.

He announced the date production areas in the north of the province as Bam, Normashir, Fahraj, Regan, Arzooieh and Shahdad and Golbaf areas of Kerman city, respectively, and added: The main production cultivar of the province is Mazafati cultivar with an average yield of 6 tons per hectare.

In the end, the deputy of crop production improvement of Jihad-e-Agriculture Organization of the north of the province reminded: the quality of dates in Kerman province is favorable due to suitable climatic conditions for cultivating this plant, so that Kerman province has become one of the important centers of date production in the country Therefore, currency exchange, creating productive employment (direct and indirect) and competitiveness in global markets are important factors in the production and export of this product.
