Harvesting 20,000 tons of dates from Sistan and Baluchestan date palms
Horticulture director of Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad said: At present, more than 20,000 tons of dates have been harvested from date palms in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
Ardeshir Shahraki stated: The peak of early date cultivars in the province began in mid-August and continued until the end of September, and the late varieties will continue to harvest until mid-November.
He continued: the area under date cultivation in the province, which is a product of tropical fruits, is 55,800 hectares, of which 44,000 hectares are fertile and the rest are infertile.
He stated that the forecast for date production in the province for this year is 225 thousand tons: Last year, 222 thousand tons of dates were harvested from palm trees in Sistan and Baluchestan.
The official said: Sistan and Baluchestan ranks first in terms of the area under date cultivation and second in terms of production of this product in the country.
Shahraki pointed out that this product is produced in most parts of the province, but in northern cities the production rate is lower: dates are the index fruit of the province and the highest amount of production is done in Saravan city with 12,250 hectares of cultivated area. Be.
He said: Iranshahr, Nikshahr, Saravan, Delgan, Fanuj, Qasrgand, Sib Soran, Mehrestan, Sarbaz, Khash, Mirjaveh and Zahedan are date-producing cities, including Iranshahr, Saravan, Mehrestan, Sib Soran. , Fanuj and Dalgan produce first-class dates.
Horticulture director of Jihad Keshavarzi, pointing out that dates are exported outside the province to neighboring cities, Urmia and Azerbaijan, said: Sistan and Baluchestan dates produced to other countries, including Pakistan, Persian Gulf countries, Afghanistan, Central Asia and other countries. The official said: Rabbi date product in Iran is specific to Sistan and Baluchestan and has the highest area under cultivation, which we are looking for a special brand for this product.
Shahraki, pointing out that more than 50 products are obtained from date products and currently 54,000 date farmers are working in Sistan and Baluchestan province, said: Sistan and Baluchestan has all the capacity of date processing industries, but currently in the province Most date nectar, date juice and date sugar are extracted.
