Harvesting 3 tons of saffron in Golestan
Farhani, deputy director of horticulture management of Golestan Agricultural Jihad, said: This year, 520 hectares of saffron have been planted in the province, of which 3 tons were harvested from 450 hectares.
He continued: The average yield per hectare is 6 and a half kilograms.
He said: the planting time of saffron onion starts from the beginning of September and the harvest of this product according to the climatic conditions and the size of the cultivated onions can be started from the beginning of November.
Golestan Agricultural Jihad Horticulture Deputy Director said: The economic harvest is from the second year onwards and mainly lasts from 5 to 7 years.
He said: The main cultivation areas of this product are Azadshahr, Minoodasht, Galikesh and Ramyan.
