Harvesting 678 tons of walnuts from Mahshan gardens in Zanjan
The director of horticulture of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi Mahneshan said: it is predicted that 678 tons of walnuts will be harvested from the orchards of this city this year.
Saeed Jalali, stating that 440 hectares of Mahneshan lands are under walnut tree cultivation, said: 340 hectares of Mahneshan walnut orchards are fertile and this year we are facing a 20% increase in walnut harvest; In fact, this year, Mahneshan walnut trees were protected from frost and the ground was prepared to increase the quality and quantity of the product.
He pointed out that paper bark, local and superior of Khorramdareh are the walnut cultivars cultivated in Mahneshan, and continued: Fortunately, this year, 13.5 billion Tomans will be earned by Mahneshan walnut growers. However, the cultivation of walnuts in Mahneshan has a good income and this product after harvest, in addition to the domestic market, also meets the needs of the neighboring provinces.
Jalali also pointed out that the walnuts are harvested from late September to mid-October, saying: A small amount of walnuts are sold with green skin and most of them are sold in the winter after peeling and drying.
Last year, 630 tons of walnuts were harvested from their orchards and 76 billion tomans were earned by walnut growers. Meanwhile, Mahneshan has a lot of potential in the field of agriculture, and Jihad-e-Keshavarzi in this region holds many training courses during the year with the aim of increasing the productivity of farmers.
