Harvesting chamomile flowers from farms in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad provinces
Kohgiluyeh Agricultural Jihad Plant Production Manager and the beginning of chamomile flower harvest from the fields of Stanboyer Ahmad said: This province, with its diverse climate and the presence of 400 medicinal species, is prone to cultivating all kinds of medicinal plants.
Askari added: Over 200 hectares of the province’s lands have been planted with medicinal plants, the most important of which are chamomile, thyme, peppermint, stevia and lemon.
He pointed out that about 300 tons of medicinal plants are produced and marketed annually in the province, he said: Chamomile plant is harvested in the farms of Boyer-Ahmad city these days and its harvest has ended in the tropics.
Rahideh, a chamomile farmer, also said: Farmers face many problems in planting and harvesting chamomile because there are no machines in the province for planting and harvesting this plant, and we have to do all the steps by hand.
He added: There is no guaranteed market in the province to buy our products, and this has hurt farmers.
