Harvesting Damask rose began in Kashan
Reza Mazloumi, stating that the harvest of Damask rose continues for up to three months in Kashan, added: Damask rose cultivation in this city ranks first in the country in terms of production per unit area and first in Isfahan province in terms of area under cultivation.
According to him, in case of unforeseen events and damages to the agricultural sector, more than 10 tons of Damask rose will be harvested in Kashan this year.
Referring to the average production of four and a half tons of Damask rose per hectare and the employment of five thousand people in the field of agriculture and horticulture in Kashan, he said: The value of Damask rose produced this year in this city is estimated at 200 billion tomans.
Director of Kashan Agricultural Jihad, stating that 500 workers are working daily in Kashan during the quarter of the picking season, continued: In addition to 16 million liters of rose and one thousand liters of Damask rose essential oil with 34 industrial units and 1800 traditional units in production And rose processing is extracted.
He added: 10,000 tons of Damask rose will enter Kashan from other cities to process roses in traditional and industrial workshops.
Mazloumi reminded the employment of four thousand people in the traditional and industrial workshops of rose production in this city and continued: 3,800 tons of rose and Damask rose essential oil worth four and a half million dollars were exported abroad in 1399.
Referring to the two unique features of Damask rose in Kashan region, the deputy head of Isfahan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: These features include climate diversity and the difference in altitude from 3,000 to 850 meters above sea level in increasing the harvest time of Damask rose in three months.
He also mentioned the inclusion of Damask rose in the pattern of cultivation, productivity and saving water with low water requirements of this product as other features of this product.
