The director of horticulture of Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization announced: the work of harvesting dates from the fertile date palms of the province has started and Sistan and Baluchestan has more than 44 thousand hectares of date palm cultivation area, of which 36 thousand hectares are fertile date orchards.

Mohammad Ali Heydari, pointing out that the province has the second place in terms of date production in the country, added: It is predicted that at the end of the date harvest season in October, more than 160,000 tons of dates will be harvested and sent to domestic and consumer markets. Be exported abroad.

He pointed to the production of 76 varieties of dates in the province and said: palm cultivation has been common in most parts of the province since ancient times and now the two cultivars Mazafati and Rabbi are the most important cultivars produced in the province in terms of production and area under cultivation. Have dedicated themselves.

He added: Mazafati cultivar is consumed in the form of rotab and in terms of domestic market, it has the largest part of Mazafati date production in the country.

Heidari continued: Rabbi cultivar, which is produced exclusively in Sistan and Baluchestan province, with very desirable characteristics such as chocolate texture and semi-dry, maintainable and washable, black and light color and shaped with a small core, has a good foreign market popularity. And most of its products are bought by traders and exported abroad.

It is worth mentioning that Mazafati dates with a production of 81,000 tons and Rabbi dates with a production of 38,000 tons per year are the most important date production figures in Sistan and Baluchestan province.
