Harvesting dates in Firoozabad groves
Seyed Kazem Mousavi, referring to the harvest of dates in this city, stated: It is predicted that more than 1,300 tons of dates will be harvested from the groves of Firoozabad city.
He added: The area of palm groves in this city is 241 hectares, and the main palm gardens of Firoozabad are located in the central part and the village of Kenar Siah.
The head of Firoozabad Jihad-e-Keshavarzi continued: Zahedi dates (Qasb) have the highest level of cultivation in the city and there is a limited level of royal and special cultivars.
Mousavi added: Qasb harvest will continue until the end of November and the harvested product will be exported to Central Asian countries, Pakistan, Oman, Qatar and some European countries.
He said: Farmers should be careful in packaging, collecting and selling the product so that a healthy and quality product is sold.
The head of Firoozabad Jihad-e-Agriculture said: In general, Zahedi dates accounted for 11.5 percent of the weight and 10.5 percent of the value of exported dates in 1998 and were exported to more than 34 countries.
