Harvesting figs from 210 hectares of Aradan gardens
Amir Hossein Shah Hosseini stated: Aradan city is one of the most prone areas for growing and developing figs in Semnan province and the area under cultivation of fig orchards in this city is 210 hectares.
He said: Aradan has fertile and newly established orchards, which produce an average of 18 tons of fresh produce per hectare of fertile orchards.
Director of Jihad Keshavarzi of Aradan city, stating that the most important advantage of figs in the region is its high share in employment, clarified: for each hectare of fig orchards, 240 seasonal jobs are created per day.
He said: Figs in the region have two sides, spring and autumn, which in terms of time in the region in two seasons of the year, it is possible to produce figs.

Shah Hosseini said: Consumption of fig fruit fresh or processed includes dried figs, jams, compotes, marmalades, syrups and vinegar, and in addition to its nutritional value, figs also have therapeutic and medicinal values.
He pointed out: Holding the fig festival with the approach of recognizing the potentials of the region in the field of production of this heavenly fruit and as a symbol of horticulture in the region and introducing various by-products has been a promotional activity in the region in August 2017.

He said: Therefore, planning for the establishment of more sorting and packaging units and conversion and complementary industries in the production chain of this product can turn the region into a fig production hub and have a significant share in conquering domestic and foreign markets.
