Harvesting more than 166 thousand tons of onions from farms in West Azerbaijan

The director of agriculture of Jihad Keshavarzi of West Azerbaijan said: This year, according to estimates, 166,500 tons of onions will be harvested from the farms of the province.

Ali Eidi, Director of Agriculture of West Azerbaijan Agricultural Jihad, stated that onion harvest has started from 3,333 hectares of the province’s arable lands, adding: The cities that have the highest area under onion cultivation in the province, including Buchan, Shahin Dejo They are Miandoab.

Eidi added: Cultivated cultivars include Azarshahr red onion and local onion.

The director of agriculture of Jihad Keshavarzi of West Azerbaijan noted: Onion cultivation has increased by about 50% this year compared to last year.

Eidi added: The cultivation of this crop in the province is usually done in a traditional way and its harvesting will start from the end of September and the beginning of October.
