Harvesting more than 900 tons of figs in Tarom

Gholam Hossein Rajabi stated: The operation of harvesting figs on 100 hectares of orchards has started from the first half of August and will continue until the end of September.
Eighty-five percent is harvested for fresh consumption, he said. 15 percent is traditionally dried and consumed.
The governor of Tarom stated: the implementation of the plan to improve tropical and subtropical orchards on fig orchards and proper nutrition on the one hand and high humidity when inoculating the fruit on the other hand has caused the yield to not change compared to the previous year which was 900 tons.
He pointed out that the quality of the harvested product has become more favorable than last year, noting that this amount will increase by about 10% this year.
Rajabi, stating that more than 500 households are exploiting this product, added: More than 2,000 people are engaged in fig harvesting every day and earn income through this.
He continued: It is predicted that the income from fig harvest will reach 4 billion rials.
The governor of Tarom said: the available cultivars in Tarom city include white, black, transport, yellow and clutch and local Tarom, and the consumer market of the city’s product is to other cities of the province and neighboring provinces.
