Identifying international markets for selling Iranian handmade carpets
The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran told the Isfahan Handmade Carpet Committee: “This center intends to work on modern handmade carpets in Isfahan in order to increase the desire of international customers to buy this original and valuable Iranian product as a pilot in Isfahan.”
Farahnaz Rafi pointed to the creation of carpet houses in some European and Asian countries in accordance with Article 46, paragraph 6, of the Sixth Development Plan, and added: “For this purpose, we are currently implementing this project in Russia. Aim to increase the export of non-oil goods.
Regarding the establishment of scientific chairs for handmade carpets, he said: “Promoting the social status of handmade carpet weavers and using new businesses such as knowledge-based companies and startups and the prosperity of online sales to identify new international markets are among the goals of these chairs.”
Rafi continued: “The boom in the package of export incentives and banking, technical and credit facilities is one of the programs of this center in order to encourage producers to export and weave carpets in accordance with the tastes of foreign customers.”
He pointed out that in Isfahan province, little attention has been paid to the ancillary industries of carpets, adding: Isfahan, despite the huge capacity of handmade carpets, unfortunately imports raw materials in the production of this product, which should be solved with the efforts of provincial officials.
