Increase Bam date exports with the cooperation of the private sector

Hussein Zin al-Salehin said in a meeting to review the situation of the date chain pest in Bam: Considering that most of the people of the city are engaged in agriculture and their source of income is the date crop, there have always been concerns in this regard that we must work to eliminate.

He specified: more than 200,000 tons of dates are produced annually in the east of the province, the export percentage of which is low, and in terms of good quality of Bam dates, the ground for its export should be provided as much as possible.

The governor of Bam continued: One of the ways to increase the export of dates is the cooperation and efforts of the private sector, and the Date Association should hold the necessary negotiations with foreign companies.

Zeinat al-Salehin said: During the recent visit of the Chinese ambassador to Iran to Bam, the issue of exporting dates to China was raised in the presence of one of the date exporters, and the Chinese ambassador promised to make arrangements for work and relations with Chinese companies.

The governor of Bam stated: in order to seriously deal with the pest of date palms, a permanent secretariat should be established and the necessary budget should be allocated through the government and the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture while carrying out research work.

He acknowledged: In the past few years, no serious and principled work has been done to deal with the pest of chains, and if the pests continue and increase, farmers in the region will face many problems.

He reminded: One of the problems in Bam is the drying of date trees due to lack of water and the owners’ desire to change the use, which should be taken seriously and the violators should be prosecuted.
