Nisi, director of the Ahwaz Agricultural Jihad Office, announced the beginning of the grape harvest from the orchards and said: This year’s production is of high quality and the harvest will continue until the end of July.

Abdolreza Nisi stated: The area of Ahvaz vineyards is 100 hectares, as well as Hamidiyeh and Bavi orchards are 50 hectares and Karun orchards are 200 hectares.

He added: Production this year has increased by 10% compared to last year and it is predicted that 35 tons of grapes will be produced per hectare.

Nisi acknowledged: One of the good features of our province’s grapes is that before the arrival of grapes from other provinces, they are harvested and have a suitable market.

He continued: Before harvesting the grape crop, its tree is used to produce juice and its leaves are used for other purposes, and this product has had a high economic value for the people of the province.

The director of Ahwaz Agricultural Jihad Office stated: Last year, vineyards in Ahwaz and its suburbs were developed from the province’s acquisition and property credits, but these orchards need more support to increase yields because there is a field and capacity for the development of these orchards in Khuzestan.
