Increasing the attractiveness of rice production for rural youth in Gilan
The director of mechanization affairs of Guilan Agricultural Jihad said: the development of mechanization in paddy fields will increase the attractiveness of rice production for young farmers in Gilan.
Haidar Kamyab said: Gilan has 238,000 hectares of paddy lands and there are enough planting machines in the province to mechanize rice transplanting in all these lands.
Referring to the restrictions on the import of new rice machinery due to the transfer of currency, supply of the required currency and the elimination of foreign exchange subsidies for the purchase of agricultural machinery, he added: To mechanize rice transplants in the coming crops.
Kamyab continued: In the last growing season, mechanized transplanting was done in 67% of Gilan paddy lands, in terms of mechanized cultivation, Gilan is the first province in the country.
Regarding the reasons for not using 33% of other farmers who traditionally cultivate rice, the director of mechanization of Jihad Keshavarzi Guilan added: Transplanting The farm and the farmer himself prefer not to use the transplanting machine.
Non-generalization of mechanized rice transplant culture
He added: The culture of rice transplanting has not yet become mechanized and we will take various measures to achieve and develop this in the province.
Unfortunately, some farmers are too late to use mechanization and prefer to do traditional rice planting, Kamyab said. Rezvanshahr city is a leader in mechanized rice cultivation in the country and more than 90% of the paddy lands of this The city is cultivated with seedlings and after this city, Masal has also been successful in mechanized rice cultivation.
He said: Reducing the cost of production is one of the important benefits of mechanized rice production, because labor costs are eliminated. Fortunately, rice farmers in the cities of East Gilan are more interested in mechanized rice cultivation, and thus the province is almost balanced.
Ten percent increase in mechanized seedling cultivation in the advanced crop season of Gilan
The director of mechanization affairs of Gilan Agricultural Jihad pointed out: It is predicted that in the forthcoming crop season, we will see a ten percent increase in mechanized rice cultivation, and in this way, the arduous work of manual rice cultivation will be greatly reduced.
He added: In Gilan, most of the hard work of rice transplanting is done manually by women, and the development of mechanization greatly reduces these difficulties.
Kamyab pointed out that if farmers earn a good income from the sale of rice, they will make more efforts to maintain their paddy land. Mechanized rice production will make rice production more economical for rice farmers, he said.
Lease of paddy fields not owned in the province by young rice farmers
Kamyab added: Mechanized rice production is not only attractive for rural youth. Even some young people who do not have land rent rice fields to people who are not present in the province or do not have time to cultivate rice due to their employment. They cultivate rice.
The director of mechanization affairs of Gilan Agricultural Jihad, stating that mechanization has created leisure for farmers and reduced farmers’ mental conflicts, added: Freeing the farmer’s mind from the difficulty of a few days of manual transplanting will cause us to see more agricultural management by farmers.
He added: Increasing the yield is the result of several factors, including reducing the involvement of the farmer’s mind due to paying for mechanized rice transplanting, and if he worked in the old ways, he could not improve the yield on his land with a tired mind and work.
