Increasing white rice production from ratoon breeding in Gilan
The director of agriculture affairs of Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: due to the increase in the level of ratoon breeding lands in the province, the production of white rice obtained from this product has also increased in Gilan.
Ebrahim Akbarzadeh said: Gilan has 16 cities and has been raised in all paddy fields of Gilan Raton.
He added: Last year, ratoon was grown in 80,000 hectares of cities, while this year it has been grown in more than 91,000 hectares of paddy fields in ratoon province.
Akbarzadeh continued: So far, ratoon crop has been harvested in half of the province’s rice fields and the rest will be harvested soon.
The director of agriculture affairs of Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: Due to the increase in the level of ratoon breeding in Gilan, we are witnessing an increase in the production of white rice, which will be obtained from the cultivation of this product in Gilan.
He added: Since the rice production period of ratoon breeding is shorter than the original rice and less pesticides and fertilizers are used, the protein content of this rice is more than starch.
Stray livestock continue to be a factor in preventing the development of ratoon farming in some paddy fields
Akbarzadeh added: Because some lands do not have enough moisture, some farmers miss the opportunity to grow rattan, and also stray livestock are other factors that prevent some rice farmers from entering the category of ratoon breeding, and we hope More farmers will be required by next year not to abandon their livestock until the end of the ratoon breeding phase on other people’s rice fields.
He said: Raton, in addition to increasing the production of white rice in the province, due to its high quality and higher price than raw rice, also increases the income of paddy farmers.
The director of agriculture affairs of Gilan Jihad Agricultural Organization said: the rice aroma cooked from ratoon is excellent and famous among rice farmers, and this product is finding more and more fans in the country’s rice market every day.
Akbarzadeh said: Raton is grown in the cities of East Gilan and the center more than other paddy fields in the province.
He pointed out that due to the good selling price of this product in the markets, the youth of the village are more interested and motivated than in previous years to raise raton, he said: The outskirts of cities, which will cause a lot of social damage to the province, will be prevented.
