Iran is selling pistachios at an unfair and very low price

The US International Trade Commission has extended import tariffs on pistachios produced in Iran for another five years.
According to the commission, import tariffs have been imposed to avoid the entry of cheap Iranian pistachios into US markets and create unfair competition.
The California Pistachio Commission claimed in a report that Iran has now lost most of its share of the European market and is instead selling pistachios at unfair and very low prices.
The extension of import tariffs on Iranian pistachios is a real victory for our producers, and we are very pleased with that, said Karen Rink, chair of the California Pistachio Commission.
Even if the tariffs are abolished, it does not mean low prices for pistachios for consumers, he said. This only means that importers will import pistachios at lower prices and there will be no change in the approved price for customers.
