Iran ranks first in the world production of handmade carpets
Mohammad Ali Zarrineh Kafsh, President of the Union of Handmade Carpet Weavers, said about the latest situation of handmade carpets: Iran ranks first in the world in the production of handmade carpets.
The head of the Union of Handmade Carpet Weavers continued: Due to the cowardly sanctions imposed on our country, handmade carpets did not see any price increase.
Zarineh Kafsh stated: Unfortunately, we have problems in supplying raw materials to start carpet weaving, because many of the items required for carpet production, including silk, are 100% imported, and only wool is produced and supplied in Iran.
The head of the Union of Weavers of Handmade Carpets, noting that the quality of Iranian handmade carpets is far from all handmade carpets in the world, said: Holding exhibitions of handmade carpets in the world can help to introduce this product and culture of our country. That many manufacturers show their products to the world.
Zarrineh Kafsh, referring to the latest prices of handmade carpets in the market, said: The price of Iranian handmade carpets is 200 to 300 thousand tomans per meter (carpet and Gabbeh, which is not silk) to 30 million tomans per meter in the market.
He added: One of the factors is the possibility of buying handmade carpets for a wide range of people, correct advertising and increasing public awareness of this unique product.
According to the president of the Union of Handmade Carpet Weavers, for the first time in the weavers’ union, a production license will be issued for the weavers, so that their insurance problem will be solved within the framework of this plan.
Handmade carpets have finally been exported to 50 or 60 countries, and we have neglected the opportunities and markets of other countries, Zarrineh Shoes stressed.
The head of the Union of Handmade Carpet Weavers expressed hope that the cooperation of officials and the government could help improve the union’s activities.
