Iranian dates want a special brand

The head of the Research Center for Dates and Tropical Fruits, emphasizing that a special brand should be considered for Iranian dates, said: We are able to produce dates in any size and any type of packaging, but policy makers must also support and have proper marketing. .
Abdul Amir Rahnama in the National Conference on Dates and Food Security, stating that the headquarters of the Research Institute of Dates and Tropical Fruits based in Khuzestan has started its work since 1993, said: 85% of date production and 80% of its cultivated area in five countries Iran is also one of these countries. Iran ranks first in the world in terms of cultivation and second in terms of production.
He said: Countries exporting dates are divided into two main categories and re-exports, of which Iran is one of the main exporters.
The guide stated: The total number of dates produced in the country is one million tons, which must be planned for its quality production. In terms of exports, Iran has a good ranking.
The head of the Research Center for Dates and Tropical Fruits said about the toxins used in the groves: The time interval between poisoning and harvesting dates is long and due to the heat and sunlight, the poison does not remain on the tree and dates can be used with confidence.
Methyl bromide gas is also used to disinfect dates, an alternative to which is under construction and is being used as a pilot.
He added: One of the problems of date production in groves is the lack of pollen, because a large amount of pollen from palms is wasted. To solve this problem, a device has been built in the Research Center for Tropical Dates and Fruits, which saves 70% on manpower and 50% on pollen consumption, and invites the private sector to take action to receive points for this product and its mass production.
“Some people think that because palm is a tree with high tolerance, it does not need water and nutrients,” said the guide. This idea is completely wrong and dates, like other trees, need care. Irrigation projects under pressure of palm trees are underway in six parts of the country to achieve results. There are also sorbents used around trees to increase water absorption.
