Iranian handwoven in the shop windows of American stores
Hamid Kargar, CEO of the National Carpet Center of Iran, said: “After a 5-year hiatus and the failure of Iranian carpets to enter the United States of America, the export of Iranian carpets to the United States resumed in January last year. This business trend continued and carpet activists were able to regain their share of the US carpet market.
He added: “Specifically, in the last 11 months since 2015, according to the latest customs statistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran, about $ 70 million worth of carpets weighing 1,400 tons have been exported to the United States, while this figure was zero in the same period last year. .
Asked whether Trump’s stone-throwing has affected the carpet export market, the director general of the National Carpet Center of Iran said: “Until now, there have been no reports of Iranian carpets being barred from entering the US Customs and exports continue.”
Kargar added: “Although the world of politics is unpredictable and there is a possibility of any threat to the export of carpets, we hope that this intelligence will be available to American officials so that people do not deprive themselves of Iranian weavers.
