Iranian iron carpet was registered worldwide
The head of the carpet department of Markazi Province’s Industry, Mining and Trade Organization announced the global registration of the geographical mark of Saroogh carpet, Arak, known as the iron carpet in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
During the last three years, the registration of the country’s leading carpet brands has been on the agenda of the Mining Industry and Trade Organization.
And this center sent the case file of Saruq carpet along with 10 prominent brands of handmade carpets in the country, including Kashmar, Kashan, Nain, Kerman, Yazd, to the World Intellectual Property Organization for global registration.
He added: “Following the cooperation of the National Carpet Center of Iran with the cooperation of UNESCO and the World Intellectual Property Organization, this carpet was registered worldwide in two years.”
Naderi said: “World-renowned brands have been identified by the provincial carpet departments, one of which was Saruq carpet, but unfortunately, with the imposition of sanctions in recent years, competitors of Iranian hand-woven carpets were able to present themselves in the carpet market.”
The head of the carpet department of the Central Province Industry, Mining and Trade Organization continued: “According to this, these countries, by producing handmade carpets under the name of Iranian carpets, especially Saroogh carpets, led to the deterioration of these carpets in the world markets.”
He said: “Handmade carpets that were produced in China and were offered in the exhibitions and stores of China and Shanghai, called Sarooq carpets, differed in the variety of colors, patterns and types of weaves with the original woven pattern in Sarooq region.”
Naderi considered the global registration of Saruq handmade carpets as a way to prevent the counterfeit production of this carpet and said: “After announcing the global registration, the use of the capacities of the copyright law for the producers, Saroogh carpets will be protected.”
The head of the carpet department of Markazi Province’s Industry, Mining and Trade Organization said: “The global registration of the geographical mark, Saroogh carpet brand, has created a great motivation among Saruq carpet manufacturers, and we hope that we will not see counterfeit Sarouq carpets in the market from today.”
He reminded: Saruk carpet from the past to the present with various designs such as Shah Abbasi, elastic and bergamot, forest, Sheikh Safi, Mostofi, bush, fish-eating chicken, single-stemmed and brick with special elegance in texture, production, and shipping to domestic markets and It has become foreign, including European and American countries.
Referring to the main features of Sarukh carpet, Naderi said: “This carpet is mostly produced in 160 and above, and it has a high density and quality, design and color, and a very good role.”
The head of the carpet department of Markazi Province’s Industry, Mining and Trade Organization said: “Due to the high density, quality and texture, Saruq carpet is skilled by skilled weavers, this carpet is known as iron carpet, and is one of the quality and durable carpets in the country.”
He said that the use of a kind of red color called “Doughi” is one of the features of Saruq carpet that was exported in the past under the title of “American Saroogh”.
Naderi pointed out: Saroogh carpet mostly uses dooghi, red lacquer, golnar, khaki, beige, mouse, dark blue, lead and mashi colors.
