Iran’s pistachio exports have grown by 2.61 percent
The Minister of Jihad for Agriculture stated: The amount of pistachio exports in 1382 was equal to 207 thousand tons with a foreign exchange income of 803 million dollars, which compared to 1381 has increased by 1.36 percent in terms of weight and 2.61 percent in terms of value.
Pistachio products account for more than 14.5 percent of the country’s non-oil exports, Mahmoud Hojjati was quoted as saying at a meeting of the Pistachio Coordination Council.
The Minister of Jihad for Agriculture considered Iran as the first in terms of area under cultivation, production and export of this product and said: Iran has 60 to 65% of the area under cultivation and 40 to 45% of the world production of pistachios.
He added: The total area under pistachio cultivation is 398 thousand hectares, of which 295 thousand hectares are fertile and 103 thousand hectares are infertile and seedlings.
In another part of his speech, emphasizing the formation of expert working groups for development and transformation in the production, processing and marketing of pistachios in the country, Hojjati said: The formation of three committees of agriculture and pistachio industry, trade and export and standard and health can cause Quantitative and qualitative increase of production and export of pistachio product in the country and world markets.
