Coinciding with October 20, which coincides with October 12, the Day of Contemporary Italian Art, will be held at the Spazio Nour Gallery. Italian Contemporary Art Day is a large and artistic event dedicated to contemporary Italian art and the general public, and provides a place to present and exchange contemporary art from different countries.
In early October, museums affiliated with the Italian Contemporary Art Association, in collaboration with some of the country’s institutions, will hold a number of free events, exhibitions, conferences and workshops for the audience. In recent years, this event has played an important role in promoting contemporary culture in Italy and provides an opportunity to experience and enrich contemporary art in everyday life.
Mahmoud Saleh Mohammadi is an Italian designer and painter who completed his studies in contemporary art at the Brera Academy in Milan and has included a collection of Iranian carpets in his collection. In his new exhibition, he poetically uses carpets and reminds the ancient Iranian miniatures by gilding the carpets. Inspired by the traditions of Iranian art and calligraphy on the carpet, he creates new works and presents a new perspective on contemporary art. Saleh Mohammadi, an Iranian artist active in Italy, has previously turned the Milan Drug Distribution Center into a gallery.
“My roots are in Iran, but my branches have grown here (in Italy),” he said of his artistic approach. Everyone in contemporary art must return to their roots. The artist must have roots, otherwise his art will remain unanswered. Contemporary art needs a work that is rooted.
When I worked on the subject of calligraphy on the carpet, it received very good feedback. Previously, I only wrote calligraphy for myself or during classes, and my calligraphy students are mostly graphic artists, graffiti artists, visual artists who work on the subject of calligraphy, and are generally interested in Iranian culture. The aesthetics of calligraphy, form, and how to use Iranian calligraphy materials are the subject of these classes.
