khatam in the Timurid period
Much attention has been paid to Khatam’s art during the Timurid rule; For this reason, Khatam’s work flourished during this period, and artists began to create valuable works. The status of this art reached such a high level of excellence that King Gorkani’s Timur Lang ordered the doors of his famous palace called Delgosha in Samarkand to be decorated with inlays. This art was so well received by the Mongol kings that after Timur’s death, his tomb was decorated with Khatam’s chest.
