Mirhashem Seyed Ahmadi, referring to the export of handmade carpets, said: Currently, we do not have carpet exporters in the province, and in the past, despite the high volume of carpet production in the province, the carpets of this province were called Qom carpets and traders.

He said that in addition to the lack of specialized traders, the taste of the carpet market has also changed and has affected the export of carpets, he added: In the past, bulky carpets were exported more than any other type, which is the majority of woven carpets in this sector in the province. Now we are witnessing a decrease in carpet exports due to the imposition of sanctions and a change in the taste of the market.

The official continued: Currently, fine-textured carpets are the main taste of world markets for hand-woven carpets, which are exported by air due to their small size, but because there is no international airport in the province, fine-textured carpets, despite being expensive, are more expensive than airports. Imam Khomeini (RA) is exported to Tehran.

Seyed Ahmadi stated: The quality of handmade carpets in Zanjan province is unique that the naturalness of wool and silk materials and dyes used in Zanjan carpet products increases the quality of these carpets, but the lack of specialized exporters, severe sanctions, lack of export infrastructure such as the airport The international community, which in addition to Zanjan carpets can be a place for the export of carpets from other provinces, has had a high impact on the abandonment of the province’s carpet exports.

Regarding the province’s imports, the director general of Zanjan province’s customs reminded: Zanjan is one of the provinces that in recent years has been filled with almost only raw materials for production and production line machinery, which is a good thing for the development and future of the province.
