The head of the plant production improvement department of Larestan Agricultural Jihad announced the beginning of onion planting in the continuation plan in this city.
Ali Saeedinejad said: it is expected that 220 hectares of agricultural lands of this city will be allocated to onion cultivation of the continuation plan.

He said that the seeds are first transplanted in the nursery for two months in September and transferred from the nursery to the main land in November. He said: preparing the seedling bed, observing nutrition in transplanting, observing density in transplanting, having strong seedlings And healthy guarantees good production.

Saeedinejad announced the average onion production in the continuity plan as 45 tons per hectare and said: it is predicted that about 10,000 tons of onions will be produced and marketed this year.

According to the head of the plant production improvement department of Larestan Agricultural Jihad, Afrigro and white onion of Minerva cultivar are among the cultivars that are cultivated in the city.

Saeedinejad added: Larestan, as the center of seedling production, has been supplying onion seedlings used by farmers in southern Fars for more than 15 years.

He pointed out that most of the area under onion cultivation is located in the central part and Darzo Saiban rural district, and said: the entire area under cultivation of this crop is equipped with pressurized irrigation.

The head of Larestan Agricultural Jihad Plant Production Improvement Department said: the climatic conditions of the city have made it possible to cultivate the products of the continuity plan, including onions, which helps a lot to control the price of these products in the seasons when the market is short of them.
