Less than one percent of domestically extracted caviar is supplied
The CEO of Mazandaran Sturgeon Specialized Parent Company announced: Since the beginning of the fishing season, two tons and 750 kg of caviar and 27 tons of meat have been extracted, which is expected to be 3.5 to four tons of caviar by the end of the year.
Mahmoud Asadollahi said: the amount of caviar and sturgeon meat extraction in this year’s program was a total of 30 tons (about three tons of caviar and 27 tons of meat) that from the beginning of the fishing season with the cooperation of the fishing community and protection of aquatic resources this amount of extraction and It was mainly exported to European countries and Japan.
He said that the amount of caviar extracted has decreased by seven percent compared to last year, adding: Annually, due to a sharp decline in stocks of about 25 to 30 percent, we are facing a decline in sturgeon stocks in the entire Caspian Sea.
Asadollahi stated: 99% of the extracted caviar is exported and less than one% is supplied in the country.
