Mashhad and Kashmar carpets were registered worldwide

The head of the Industry, Mining and Trade Organization of Khorasan Razavi announced the global registration of carpets in Mashhad and Kashmar.

Razieh Alirezaei stated: So far, the geographical indication of carpets in 10 regions of Iran, including Mashhad, Kashmar, Kashan, Kerman, Nain, Sarough, Yazd, Ardabil, Turkmen Golestan and Hamedan, has been registered worldwide.

He said: The global brand registration of these areas has been done based on the Lisbon Treaty and through a continuous expert process in accordance with international laws by the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade and this organization in the cities of Mashhad and Kashmran.

Alirezaei added: The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) is one of the 16 specialized agencies of the United Nations, which was established by signing an agreement in Stockholm in 1967 to encourage creative works to protect intellectual property in the world.

He expressed hope that with the continuation of the process of global registration of geographical areas of Iranian hand-woven carpets, copying of Iranian carpet competitors and tampering with the geographical names of our country’s carpet-weaving areas will be prevented.
