He added: Due to the good reception of farmers this year, about 24,000 date palm seedlings have been purchased from the UAE, which will be distributed among the date-producing provinces, including Fars, after the quarantine process in the greenhouse of the Faculty of Agriculture.
Pejman said: Due to the rapid growth of date tissue culture cultivars, it is expected that in the next 6 years, a significant volume of this cultivar will be produced in the province and significant assistance will be provided to the development of commercial groves.
According to him; The most suitable arrangement and planting density of this cultivar is eight meters between rows and seven meters on the row, which with this density, it was possible to carry out operations and mechanized harvesting of this cultivar will be possible.
The official pointed out that Majl dates produce 60 to 70 kilograms of suitable and commercial dates in suitable conditions, and said: Currently, the price of each kilogram of this figure in the rotab stage (suitable stage for consumption in European markets) is more than 20 It is in dollars, and in the Iranian market, each kilo of dates of this figure is sold at a price of about 100 thousand tomans.
Pejman stated: At present, at least 30% of the groves in Fars province do not have the desired economic return due to old age and the existence of poor and low-yielding cultivars. Al-Mali is like Majul, Pyarum and Barhi.
Pointing out that dates are the most expensive cultivar in the world, he added: large size (weight 24 grams in first grade), suitable color and shape, small kernel and high meat to kernel ratio and the possibility of harvesting in two forms And semi-dry dates are the prominent features of this cultivar.
The Deputy Minister of Crop Production Improvement of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Fars Province stated: The cultivar is native to Morocco and the lack of residue (traditional method of propagation of dates) was the most important obstacle to its development in date countries around the world, including our country in recent decades. The large number of rare date cultivars has solved the problem of date reproduction and development in the world in the last three decades.
Pejman stated: The first batch of tissue culture seedlings of this cultivar entered the country in the 1370s and showed good cultivation and adaptation in the date palm provinces of the country, and this caused the import and reproduction of this cultivar to develop and renovate the country’s groves and Fars province should be on the agenda.
Fez province is one of the major dates producing provinces in the country with an area of 30,000 hectares of dates and a production of more than 130,000 tons per year.
