Mechanized cultivation of peanuts on the threshold of Ashrafieh
The director of Astana Ashrafieh Agricultural Jihad said: mechanized cultivation of peanuts was done in 16 hectares of lands of Astana Ashrafieh.
Goodarz Kamalpour, pointing out that 90% of the peanut lands in Gilan are on the threshold of Ashrafieh, said: the amount of these lands is 2,507 hectares, in each hectare of which 6 tons of fresh peanut cocoons are produced.
He added: 15,000 tons of fresh cocoons and 9,200 tons of dried peanut cocoons are expected to be produced in Astana peanut orchards this year.
He informed about mechanized cultivation in 16 hectares of peanut lands in this city and said: mechanized cultivation causes operations and harvesting to be done mechanized and this reduces the costs of peanut production by almond growers.
Kamalpour pointed out: in traditional peanut cultivation, 70 kg of seeds are used per hectare, while the use of mechanization causes 45 kg of seeds to be consumed per hectare, thus saving 35% in the use of peanut seeds. We are witnessing in every hectare.
He added: Traditional methods for producing peanuts use a lot of workers in the planting and harvesting stages, while in mechanized cultivation, labor costs are greatly reduced.
He said: Of course, mechanized cultivation is the last stage of the plan to increase peanuts, and steps such as soil testing, seed disinfection, use of raw gypsum, etc. are among the first processes.
