According to the findings of a study, mint essential oil is effective in reducing the severity of pain after cesarean section.
Cesarean section is the most common gynecological surgery and most cesarean section patients experience postoperative pain for various reasons, especially bloating. Various medications are used as postoperative analgesics.
Nasrin Fazel, Master of Midwifery, Sabzevar University of Medical Sciences, in a study, investigated the effect of supermint (mint essential oil) on pain intensity after cesarean section.
In this study, which was conducted as a clinical trial study to determine the effect of mint essential oil on pain intensity after cesarean section in Shahidan Mobini Hospital in Sabzevar, 107 cesarean section women (47 in the placebo group, 60 in the drug group) were studied.
The drug and placebo were administered in three doses of 40 drops and 20 minutes after discontinuation of serum in women with postoperative bloating pain, and the effect of supermint on pain intensity was assessed using a visual scale.
The findings of this study indicate that the Mann-Whitney test showed that the pain intensity in the drug group compared to the placebo group in the second 20 minutes, the third 20 minutes and 120 minutes after the intervention was significantly reduced.
According to the statistical findings of this study, the acceptance hypothesis that mint essential oil is effective in reducing pain after cesarean section in the drug group compared to the placebo group was confirmed.
