More than 15% increase in caviar exports in Iran
The head of the Iranian Fisheries Organization announced the export of 53,000 tons of fish this year and predicted that seven to 10 tons of caviar and 70% of farmed shrimp would be exported to European countries.
Vahid Zaremahforozi, pointing out that this year, according to the Fourth Development Plan, about 692 thousand tons of aquatic products will be produced by the private sector, said: 456 thousand tons of this amount will be obtained through fishing and 236 thousand tons through aquaculture.
He predicted: 53 thousand tons of aquatic products will be exported this year with the cooperation of the private sector.
Zare added: Considering that the priority is with domestic consumption and according to the plan, it should be possible to provide eight and a half kilograms of per capita consumption per person this year, but if the world markets are more favorable, the amount of exports will increase.
The Deputy Minister of Jihad for Agriculture pointed to the harvest of more than five thousand tons of shrimp this year and predicted: about 70% of the harvest of this product will be exported to European countries.
He also pointed to the fishing of 180,000 tons of fish from distant waters, reminded: the country’s domestic consumption surplus will be exported, but due to the activity of factories and conversion industries in the country is expected to reduce the export of this product slightly.
The head of the Fisheries Organization of Iran, stating that the quota for caviar exports set by the Sites Convention is close to 42 and a half tons, predicted: seven to 10 tons of processed caviar will be exported to applicant countries, which is 15 to 20 percent more than last year Has increased.
In the end, Zare added: Of course, considering that caviar is caught in two seasons, spring and autumn, its amount can be changed until spring.
