More than 4,000 tons of dried chamomile flowers are consumed annually in the world
A researcher at the Lorestan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center said: more than 4,000 tons of dried chamomile flowers are consumed annually in the world.
لاShahla Ahmadi stated: Chamomile is an annual plant with a height of 30 to 70 cm that each mound has two types of flowers and the part used by this plant is its flowers.
He said that between May and June, these flowers are separated from the stem and harvested, he added: This plant is widely distributed and in Iran by car in provinces such as Lorestan, Ilam, Khuzestan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Golestan , Tehran and Hamedan are growing.
Ahmadi pointed out: At present, more than 4,000 tons of chamomile are consumed annually in the form of dried flowers in the world, of which countries such as Hungary, Russia, Argentina, Germany, etc. are important and major producers.
The researcher of Lorestan Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Center added: Chamomile does not need to pass cold for flowering and its seeds germinate at a temperature of 6 to 7 degrees.
He stated: This plant is saline and is able to tolerate drought and needs a suitable amount of water to form a stem.
Ahmadi said: Chamomile can be planted in a field for several years and alternated with chickpeas and mustard.
