North Khorasan grape exports to Russia and Pakistan
The Deputy Minister of Plant Production of the North Khorasan Jihad Agricultural Organization announced
the export of 2,500 tons of grapes from the province’s vineyards to countries such as Russia and Pakistan this year.
Majid Tashkari, pointing out that this province is one of the centers of grape production in the country, added:
During the last year, the same amount of grapes were exported to these two countries.
He pointed out that the area of vineyards in the province is 16,000 hectares, adding:
It is expected that 180,000 tons of grapes will be harvested from the orchards of the province this year.
Last year, 175 tons of grapes were harvested from the province’s vineyards. Drought has reduced the yield of orchards in the province.
Tashkari stated that selling grapes is one of the most important problems for gardeners in the province:
Last year, grapes were supposed to be bought at a guaranteed price of 4,000 Tomans per kilogram,
but the purchase price was so low that even farmers were reluctant to sell . For this year, we intend to increase the guaranteed purchase price.
He explained:
The formation and strengthening of organizations is another measure being implemented and we intend to activate packaging
and raisin production companies in the province.
The deputy head of the North Khorasan Agricultural Jihad Organization also announced the establishment of raisin
technical and health centers in the province.
