Onion cultivation in 500 hectares of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari farms

This year, 500 hectares of agricultural lands in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari are under onion cultivation.

Mohsen Mahdavi, director of agriculture of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Jihad-e-Agriculture, announced the cultivation of onions in 500 hectares of farms in the province and said: So far, about 90 hectares of this amount have been cultivated.

He added: Onion cultivation in the province is mostly in the form of seedlings and the main fields are located in Shahrekord, Kiar, Borujen and Farsan cities, which due to better environmental compatibility of the province with white and yellow cultivars, high tonnage and late red onion ripening, more Two cultivars are planted.

Mahdavi, pointing out that onion cultivation continues until early May, added: Due to the cross-sectional onion cultivation in the province, the needs of the people in other seasons are met from neighboring provinces.

He continued: Last year, 680 hectares of agricultural lands in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari were planted with onions and a total of 20,400 tons were produced.
