Only 20% of Tuyserkan orchards have walnuts
Director of Jihad-e-Agriculture of Tuyserkan city, pointing out that walnut orchards have been damaged this year, said: only 20% of orchards in this city have walnuts.
Masoud Akbari, stating that the walnut harvest has started in this city, stated: Unfortunately, due to the damage done to the gardeners, the walnut festival will not be held this year and the governor’s office and Tuyserkan Jihad-e-Agriculture do not have any plans in this regard.
He said that the area of walnut orchards in this city is 5,000 hectares, adding: Last year, 13,000 tons of walnuts were produced in the city, but this year, it is expected that a maximum of 2,000 tons of walnuts will be harvested from Tuyserkan orchards.
Referring to the harvest of crops in this city, he said: the harvest of wheat and barley crops has ended in Tuyserkan, where 25 thousand tons of wheat and 35 thousand tons of barley have been produced in this city.
Akbari reminded: other crops such as corn, sugar beet, rapeseed, potatoes and onions will be finished within the next week.
The director of Jihad-e-Keshavarzi of Tuyserkan city stated: 500 hectares of the lands of the city are under sugar beet cultivation and it is predicted that 25,000 tons of crops will be harvested from this area.
He continued: Corn has been cultivated in 700 hectares of farms in Tuyserkan city, from which 63,000 tons of crop is expected to be harvested.
Akbari pointed out: Potatoes and onions have been cultivated in 400 hectares and 150 hectares of the lands of this city, respectively, and it is predicted that 24,000 tons of potatoes and 9,000 tons of onions will be harvested.
He reminded: rapeseed was cultivated in 40 hectares of lands and 80 tons of crops were harvested and delivered.
