The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran said: People around the world know handmade carpets as Iranians and our second flag.

Fereshteh Dastpak in the unveiling ceremony of the plan of five Lori carpet designs, said: Carpet is one of the three strategic goods and non-oil exports of the country and we do not have a product that carries art, culture, civilization, employment and economic development of the country.

He continued: We consider handmade carpets to belong to Iran and Iranians and its past dates back to thousands of years BC. We have a very strong civilization, many of which go back to the carpet.

Dastpak pointed to the difference between Iranian handmade carpets and other parts of the world and added: We implement everything that comes from inside the carpet designs, and the people who work in this field make everything out of nothing.

The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran added: Today, we are proud to announce that the second identity card of Iranians is carpet, and the people of the world know handmade carpet by the name of Iranians, and it is our second flag.

He pointed out: Nearly 2.5 million people work in the field of handmade carpets and in 29 places in Iran, this carpet has been registered globally. More than 30 percent of our handmade carpets were exported to the United States, but unfortunately Trump deprived his people of this art.

Referring to the export of Lori carpets, Dastpak emphasized: we should replace other countries with the United States and the people of our country should be encouraged to buy Iranian carpets. We must have handmade carpets in all Iranian homes.

The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran reminded: In all American political relations, there is an Iranian handmade carpet and this carpet should not be sanctioned, because it belongs to the Iranian people and we intend to lift it from the embargo with the help of non-governmental organizations.

He added: There are about 24,000 carpet weavers in Lorestan, but only about 4,500 people are covered by social security insurance, and these workers need job and social security, and this procedure must be corrected.

Dastpak stated that no other province has been as active as Lorestan in terms of infrastructure and carpet training, and expressed hope that in global markets, Lori carpets with local maps will be present.

He went on to say that up to 70% of the people who work in the field of handmade carpets are women, adding: No industrial art can be as effective in employment as carpets and special attention should be paid to it.

The head of the National Carpet Center of Iran said: In the memorandum of understanding concluded with the Omid Entrepreneurship Fund, buyers of Iranian hand-woven carpets will be given less facilities.
