Patients with epilepsy should consume food with cumin during Ramadan
The research deputy of the Iranian Epilepsy Association said: Epileptic patients should use cumin seeds in their food during Ramadan and be sure to eat dates at dawn and iftar.
Dr. Kourosh Gharagozli said about the nutrition of epileptic patients during the holy month of Ramadan: The food of such people should be high in protein, of course, eating mutton and refraining from eating beef and fish are recommended.
Patients with epilepsy should not eat foods known as ‘cold’, he said. These patients are better off avoiding fruits such as cucumbers and tomatoes. Many patients have received reports of an increase in epileptic seizures after eating foods called colds.
Patients who have to take medicine at noon can change their eating time if they consult a doctor, Qarah Gozli concluded. Otherwise, such people are advised to perform the rituals of fasting but to take their pills or syrup at noon with some water.
