The most important pests and diseases of barberry are: ‌ Barberry age, barberry aphid, ring egg moth, leaf-eating moth, barberry red mite, barberry hornbeam, black black wheat rust fungus and barberry white fungus.
A) sen:
This pest in Iran was first reported in 1340 from oak, barberry and mountain nastaran. The pest attacks young leaves and branches and causes damage. Age is a pest that is more prevalent in the northern provinces of the country and Fars province and does not have much economic importance.
B) Barberry aphid:
This pest is observed in the northern provinces of the country and is active on the leaves, its economic importance is high.
C) Ring egg butterfly:
Hosts of this pest are some fruit trees and other plants including: ‌ Maple, Tuscany, Barberry, Birch, Hornbeam, Wild Cherry, Hawthorn, Walnut, Wild Apple, Poplar, Wild Tomato, Wild Pear, Oak, Willow and Pacific Are. This pest is spread in the northern provinces of Tehran, Markazi, Kurdistan and Khorasan. It should be noted that the larvae of this butterfly are deciduous and its economic importance is moderate to high.

G) leaf-eating butterfly:
Host plants of this pest are: maple, alder, birch, hornbeam, beech, poplar, wild apple, oak, star anise, hawthorn willow and barberry.
This pest is of medium economic importance in the northern provinces. The larvae of this butterfly feed on the leaves and cause the plant to be naked.

H) Purple olive oyster:
It is a polyphage pest and attacks various hosts. Forest and terrestrial hosts are: sparrow tongue, olive, pistachio, almond, fig, acacia, elm, spruce, oleander, jasmine cluster, clematis, mulberry, wild hawthorn, yew, camellia, clay milk, tree Jasmine, fragrant leaves, wild pear, star anise and barberry.
The pest attacks the branches, trunks and fruits of host plants, causing a reddish-purple walnut spot at its feeding site, especially on fruits and leaves. This pest is spread in all parts of the country and its economic importance is high.

D) Cherry flies
In addition to cherry and sour cherry trees, this pest also attacks barberry bushes. The larvae feed on the flesh of the fruit and spread to most fruit-bearing areas. Its economic importance is moderate on barberry.

R) Barberry branch-eating bee
The larvae create a channel inside the barberry branches and feed on it, causing the barberry branches to dry out. After the larvae are complete, they become pupae inside the branches and then pierce the barberry branch in the form of bees and come out. After mating, it lays eggs on other branches and its life cycle is repeated.

Barberry diseases:
A) Barberry rust:
This rust has been reported from barberry bushes in Gonbad and around Tehran.
B) Mushrooms
This fungus, which is a fungal member of a lichen, has been collected and reported from barberry from Gorgan and Shahroud areas.

C) mushrooms
It is a fungus that has been reported from barberry in Iran in 1329
G) Barberry white:
Barberry superficial whitefish that is spread in Gorgan.
H) Buckwheat rust:
The acidic stage of buckwheat rust also occurs on barberry bushes. In fact, barberry is considered as the intermediate host of buckwheat rust.
