Pistachio harvest begins in Sistan and Baluchestan

The director of horticulture of the Jihad Agricultural Organization of Sistan and Baluchestan province said: more than 3,000 hectares of the orchards of Sistan and Baluchestan are dedicated to pistachio cultivation, of which 7326 hectares are fertile and the rest are infertile.

Ardeshir Shahraki added: Aghaei, Akbari, Ouhadi, Koleghoochi and Badami are the main pistachio cultivars in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

He stated that an average of 1550 kg of crop is harvested from each hectare of pistachio orchards in the province, and predicted: by the end of October, more than 4,000 tons of pistachio will be harvested and sent to the market.

Referring to the quality of pistachios produced in Sistan and Baluchestan, he said: The pistachios produced in the province are of high quality due to the very favorable climatic conditions of the region and the low use of pesticides and fertilizers, so that it can be called an organic product.

The director of horticulture of the Sistan and Baluchestan Agricultural Jihad Organization stated: During the last year, the area under pistachio cultivation in the province has increased by 1869 hectares.

It is worth mentioning that Sistan and Baluchestan is one of the most important production centers of this product in the country by producing the best and highest quality pistachios.
