Pistachio production in Bardaskan decreased by 55%
The area of pistachio orchards in this city is 3,200 hectares, of which 250 hectares are non-fruitful orchards, said the director of the agricultural jihad in Bardaskan.
Engineer Fakhr Gholami said: Due to the unprecedented increase in temperature and early ripening of pistachios, pistachio growers have been informed through the pre-warning network and pistachio harvesting has begun.
According to him, due to late spring frosts in 2005, pistachio production is expected to decrease by 55% compared to last year.
He added: The amount of pistachios produced this year is estimated at 1947 tons, which will be harvested from 2950 hectares.
Gholami named the pistachio cultivars of this city Ouhadi, Koleghoochi, Akbari, Mumtaz and Ahmad Aghaei, which is the dominant cultivar in Ouhadi region
The director of Bardaskan Agricultural Jihad said: This city, with 21% of the area under cultivation, is the second largest producer and the area under pistachio cultivation in Khorasan province.
He stated: In the last 3 years, the provincial pistachio grower has been the sample of this city and last year, the provincial sample pistachio cultivator was able to harvest 10 tons and 660 kg of dried pistachios per hectare.
It is worth mentioning that pistachio harvest will continue from the first of September to the end of October in this city.
